| ケーシー・ジョーンズ（Wikipedia English）はイリノイ・セントラル鉄道の機関士の名前。1900年4月30日未明、彼の運転するメンフィス発キャノンボール号が、ボーガン駅に停車中の貨物列車に追突した際に、最後までブレーキ・レバーを握って殉職した。事故自体は当時、ありふれたものだったものの、歌謡に唄われたことで有名となった。 転じてこの382号が彼の名で呼ばれる。その辺りはCasey Jones物語に詳しい。 機関車は1896年のRogers製で、テンホイラーとしては比較的、小形の部類。事故後に修復されて1930年代まで活躍したという。 | Casey Jones was an engineer of the IC R.R. (Wikipedia English). On April 30, 1900, early morning, his train, Cannonball left for Memphis, Tennessee, and had a collision with a parked freight train at Vaughan station, Mississippi. He died under holding the brake lever. Although the accident was a commonplace at the era, it became known by a ballad. Now, this locomotive is called his name. See "the Casey Jones Story." The engine, made by Rogers Locomotive Shop in 1896, was relatively small as category of the Tenwheeler. She was repaired after the accident, and was operated until 1930's. |

| モデル製品の発売は1969年で、縮尺はヨーロッパ流の1/43.5と考えられる。フランジも高め。広告はMR誌1969年3月号p16のもの。HOゲージも"NEW"とアナウンスされている（Tony Cook氏のサイト）。Oゲージ蒸機は同時に0-4-0T、ドックサイド0-4-0スイッチャーおよび0-6-0 USRAスイッチャーが予告されたが、実際にはV&Tの4-4-0、"Genoa"と"Reno"、それにIHB 0-8-0だった。 リバロッシ社のOゲージ・モデルについてはイタリア語ながらリバロッシ・メモリーを参照されたい。【自動翻訳は、日本語へではなくて、英語へが理解し易そう】 このモデルは1998年にアメリカのスワップ・ミートで入手したもので、レタリングもなく、あちこち壊れたジャンクだった。実機については、カームバック社の図面集Locomotive Cyclopedia Vo.1 Steam p109に出ていて、レタリングは、これをスキャナで読みとって印刷すれば済む話なのだけれど、鉄道名がキャブに「I.C.R.R.」、番号はテンダーにゴシック体で「382」と、いささか趣きに欠ける。 そこで、テンダー側面にローマン書体でフル・スペルの鉄道名、キャブ側面とテンダー後面に車番を入れてみた。 | The product imported by AHM from Rivarossi, Itary in the 1969. The scale is considered to be 1:43.5 with high-flangs as European's. The Ad appeared in March 1969 issue of the MR magazine. The HO gauge version was also announced as "NEW" (Tony Cook's site). Although at the time in O gauge, anounced models were 0-4-0T Docksides, 0-4-0 switchers and 0-6-0 USRA switchers, actual productions ware V&T 4-4-0 "Genoa" & "Reno ", and IHB 0-8-0. See the site of the manufacture Rivarossi Memory in Italian. This model which was obtained at a swap meet in the United States 1998, was a junk broken some parts and no-lettering. The prototype drawings appeared in Kalmbach's Locomotive Cyclopedia Vo.1 Steam p109. Its letterings are dry. So, I applied the railway name of the full spelling on tender sides and the car number on the cab sides and the tender end in all roman typeface. |
